We’re halfway through the year and there have been many of the most anticipated films like Guardian’s of the Galaxy vol.2 and Wonder Woman, but which have been the best? You may think there are dozens, but to honest, i’m quite harsh on films i see, so i don’t think there will be twelve. Let’s begin.
The best Wolverine movie yet: grown-up, ballsy, character-driven and grounded. It feels right that it should be the last one, but it also feels a bit of a shame. this entry in the X-Men series is amazingly moving and grown-up, elevating the superhero genre to new heights. Hugh Jackman’s last turn as Wolverine is the real, shotgun-toting, limb-lopping deal.

Wheatley continues an unbroken run of quality, helped by a great cast and a startlingly effective premise. This is seriously cool, stuffed with great dialogue and riddled with bullets. f the old-style auteur B-movie is more or less scorched earth at this point, there’s no-one better equipped than Wheatley to inherit it.

This may not be a movie that reinvents the wheel. But it’s one that knows how to make it roll. Alien: Covenant plays it safe by mashing together the best elements of previous Alien films, delivering a solid sci-fi horror/thriller in the process. An upgrade from Prometheus, Alien: Covenant amps up the thrills but doesn’t deliver a memorable crew member or the full-on onslaught of the series at its height.

TO ROUND OF THIS REVIEW OF WONDER WOMAN, IT’S A POWERFUL FEMINIST FILM THAT ATTRACTS EVERYONE TO IT, AND IS WHAT DC NEEDED TO TAKE THE FIGHT TO MARVEL. IT’S NOW TO YOU MARVEL, WHO ARE RELEASING THEIR OWN ORIGIN FILM WITH SPIDER-MAN IN THE FRAME. AFTER A FEW FALSE STARTS, THE DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE HAS ITS FIRST TRULY TERRIFIC ENTRY UNDER ITS BELT. ABOUT DAMN TIME. (The scores below are identical to logAN!)
