Golden Globes Review

This year’s Golden Globes brought a few surprises, with the actors of The Night Manager all winning their category and the big surprise of Moonlight beating Manchester By The Sea for the Best Picture – Drama. However as everybody suspected La La Land took the most awards including Best Picture – Musical or Comedy.

Best Picture – Drama: Moonlight

What a surprise this was! We knew that it would be Moonlight or Manchester By The Sea but what does this say about the Oscars? Could it be that it wont be Manchester By The Sea trying to stop La La Land but in fact Moonlight?

Best Picture – Musical or Comedy: La La Land

As we suspected, this was a shoe-in for La La Land, and what a way to finish an amazing evening for them.

Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama: Casey Affleck

We were pretty sure that Casey Affleck would win this, but you never know. He thoroughly deserved this award for his performance in Manchester By The Sea.

Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama: Isabelle Huppart

Well this must be a first, an actress in a Foreign Film winning Best Actress. We all thought it would be Natalie Portman or possibly Ruth Negga but Isabelle Huppart surprised us all and well done to her.

Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy: Ryan Gosling

Well, he deserved it. Don’t need to say anything more really.

Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy: Emma Stone

Again, She deserved it. La La Land was just brilliant and the awards just keep on coming for it.

Best Supporting Actor: Aaron Taylor-Johnson

The only nomination for Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals and he beat frontrunner Jeff Bridges.

Best Supporting Actress: Viola Davis

In Fences, she absolutely gave it her all and she Naomie Harris and Michelle Williams to win Best Supporting Actress.

Best Director: Damien Chazelle

Well, If Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone were going to win, so should Damien Chazelle for his visionary directing In La La Land.

Best Screenplay: Damien Chazelle

Well, if he can do this at the Academy Awards too that would be amazing.

Best Original Score: Justin Hurwitz

I really wanted Johan Johansson to win and he really should of won it but if there was someone else it was Justin Hurwitz in La La Land.

Best Original Song: Ryan Gosling & Emma Stone – City of Stars

What a beautiful song from the Golden Globe winners and now they have another to their name! I would have loved it if Stevie Wonder win though.

Overall, we predicted 18 of the 25 categories correctly and now we say goodbye until the next one. Enjoy!
