So Far In 2016…

So far in 2016 we’ve had some great films, from the new Star Wars film to the R-rated hit Deadpool. We have a look at a dozen of the best this year so far.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

This was the film everybody was waiting for! Some people thought that it couldn’t live up to the previous films in the franchise but we can certainly say that it was a hit, bringing in over $2 Billion dollars word wide and is the third highest grossing film of all time. The new comers were absolutely brilliant, with some old faces like Harrison Ford in it.

Deadpool

The R-Rated film that nobody saw coming! Ryan Reynolds stars in Deadpool, about Wade Wilson who is diagnosed with terminal cancer but opes for a risky treatment, there’s only one side affect:a scarred physical appearance. It has taken over $700 Million dollars in the box office and is the highest grossing film of 2016, not bad, and there will be a sequel.

13 Hours: The Secret Solders of Benghazi

The Michael Bay film was released at the end of January and in my opinion was one of the best films yet this year. Based on the true story in Benghazi in 2012, It stars John Krasinksi and James Dale as private military contractors. When Benghazi comes under attack, they are the only respond team to the American ambassador against 300 soldiers.

Coming Up…

This year has begun well, but there’s much more to come, including:

Captain America: Civil War

Coming out at the end of April, this puts Marvels mightiest heroes against each other. On one side there is Captain America, leading the side which says that the Avengers should be able to choose when to fight, not be controlled like slaves. On his side there is also Falcon, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and Ant-Man. Then on the other side there is Tony Stark leading the pro-government side. Alongside him is Black Widow(at least we think), War Machine, Black Panther, Vision and Spiderman!

Rating:4.1/5.0

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice

This puts two of the greatest superheroes against each other, Batman and Superman. This film is made by Marvels rival DC Comics, and it has been forecasted that it will be in the top 20 highest grossing films of all time.

Rating: 3.9/5.0

X-Men: Apocalypse

This could be the final  X-Men film! It stars Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and James McAvoy. It’s about Apcalypse, a god that was once the ruler of the earth but went into hibernation. Now, thousands of years later it awakens and Raven(Jennifer Lawrence) and Charles Xavier(James McAvoy) lead a young groups of soldiers to defeat Apocalypse, sounds exciting! It comes out on May 27th.

Now You See Me: The Second Act

The second act of the sensational first film of Now You See Me. It stars Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco and Jessie Einsberg. It also stars Daniel Radcliffe as the son of Michael Caine’s character who looks to get revenge on The Four Horsmen after his father was imprisoned.

Rating: 3.7/5.0

Jason Bourne

This is for me, is the film I was looking forward to the most. The fifth Bourne film after The Bourne Legacy with no Matt Damon, instead with Jeremy Renner. It will be released on July 29th. They want to carry on with the franchise and want to put Jason Bourne(Matt Damon) and Aaron Cross(Jeremy Renner) in together. How good would that be?
Rating: 4.2/5.0

Independence Day: Resurgence

After fifteen years since the brilliant first film, it’s back for a second. There are some major changes, including no Will Smith! Also it’s 20 years on from the first film. Spoilers!

Rating: 4.1/5.0
